The newest president of the country. The sportswomen who won laurels at the prestigious Commonwealth Games. Entrepreneurs whose businesses have grown this year. Award-winning actors and artistes. Women who lead us into the zone of inspiration, making us believe that anything is possible. Women who have worked hard, not only for themselves but also for others. There are too many, but this selection of 40 will motivate us all to push our boundaries as we continue to move ahead…
From working with human resource company TeamLease to establishing her own HR consultancy company with a turnover of over `360-crore, Bhavna Udernani’s journey has been inspirational in more ways than one. The founder and managing director of Adhaan Solutions Pvt Ltd has battled her way past challenges right from the start. “When I started young 12 years ago, there were very few women entrepreneurs in our industry, and people wouldn’t take me seriously,” the achiever recalls. “I also had to put up with fierce competition as people could break clients for small margins. Dealing with frequent changes in labour laws, managing labour unions, and attracting the right talent to work for you when you are not yet a brand was a herculean task.”
Yet Bhavna has not only undeniably held her own, but also stayed ahead of the competition.
“We have always believed in offering our clients end-to-end HR consultancy solutions, whereby our clients are spared any headache on issues concerning manpower or labour,” she reveals of her strategy. “Whether it be critical issues such as notices or court orders or strategic hiring of personnel, our clients can completely rely on our tailor-made services to meet all their requirements.”
In the last couple of years, especially in the face of growing economic uncertainty and despite the absence of a strong sales team, the company has still grown organically. “On account of our impressive performance, credibility and word-of-mouth, we have developed into a `360 crore pan-India business entity,” Bhavna enthuses. “Even during the pandemic period, when most businesses were badly hit, we managed to grow at about 18%. In fact, in the last 12 years, our company has managed to maintain a steady growth pace owing to our prompt delivery and services.”
“Whether it be critical issues such as notices or court orders or strategic hiring of personnel, our clients can completely rely on our tailor-made services to meet all their requirements.”
With businesses in India being majorly people-driven, Bhavna predicts huge manpower requirements in the coming future. In the next couple of years, she also foresees dramatic shifts in HR services on account of market volatility. She has readied herself for the road ahead. “As we are no longer a start-up, we need to work towards increasing ‘profitability’ of business operations, and also find new approaches and opportunities to increase our valuation. We can no longer stick to an organic growth model, and we have plans for strategic mergers and acquisitions to reach our projected target of `1,000 crore over the next three to four years. To facilitate the process, we are now on the lookout for investors to help take us to the next level.” Bhavna is all set to evolve the HR industry with various tech and service products.
